1959 – an epoch in the history of ICI.
1959 marked a pivotal year in the history of ICI. Inspired by the industry’s revolution, a young Bachelor of Science quickly became part of it by trading in dyestuffs to meet the textile industries’ needs in Ahmedabad, the Manchester of India. By 1961, he began importing specialty dyestuffs, and by 1963, he ventured into dye manufacture. Shri J. R. Shah’s unwavering spirit ensured that his Company kept pace with industry developments, expanding its product range. By 1971, the Company had established a manufacturing base for exporting globally. In 1980, Mr. Shah expanded the pigment palette of the product portfolio. In 1986, INDIAN CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES (ICI), The Pigment & Dyes Company, underwent a revolutionary transformation driven by new ideas and innovation initiated by the second generation in command. Under Mr. Deven Shah’s visionary leadership, his team refined teamwork and product delivery processes to meet global demands.
